Two Bags of Salt
When ever I am carrying salt down into the basement to add our water softener, I always think about how I used to weigh that much without carrying anything. I’ve mentioned in previous post that I used to be much heavier. So heavy in fact that I actually weighed more then than I do now with two 40 pound bags of salt. Just walking down the stairs is a strain. I can’t believe that I used to be that heavy all the time. Nowadays, I work out every day and those days are a distant memory. But it all comes rushing back to me whenever I have to refill the water softener.

So is that how you zapped your old bed in the past? Thanks to your good wife for whipping your butt back into shape underneath the sheets, eh? (evil grin)
Rob: From the fall of 1998 to the summer of 2002 I was a poster boy for Glutton Man products. I got out of the habit of getting any exercise but was eating more than I ever did. California Girl was very supportive. She came out and ran with me (although it was more walking than running in those days). I doubt that I would have kept doing it if she hadn’t. Now, working out is part of my daily routine and I wonder how I ever let myself get like that.
I remember being much lighter! When I started college, I was 115 pounds, and by the end, I was 180. Thankfully, very little of that was fat. I had been working out like a psycho, and it paid off in the end.
The Dude: Unfortunately for me, all of it was fat. I’ll never forget the day I stepped on a balance scale and had to put the large weight on 250. I still have the XL leather jacket I got in 2001 but I doubt I’ll ever wear it again.
Is the salt softener for your laundry water? Or house water?
Chickie: The salt softener is four our house water. The water around her mostly comes from municipal wells and is fairly hard. I also end up softening the water we use to water the lawn but salt is cheap ($4.00/40-lbs) so I don’t worry about it.
