Fixed A Minor Glitch

I was unaware until recently that if you ever visited at 11:00 PM EST the site would be unavailable. (It actually would come up but it would take several minutes.) This issue has been resolved and this blog should be available at all times. I know that this blog is not like an e-commerce site or anything but I still don’t like it when it’s not working correctly. I’m just a perfectionist like that.

I’m glad that you did your due diligence quality assurance stress test on this. Is your blog uptime, like your new bed, under limited warranty? (evil grin)

Rob: Its just for fun but I take running this blog seriously. Just like all of the other sites that I administer. It was the database backup job that was the culprit. The last server dropped dead but it wasn’t a big deal since everything was backed up. So its a daily task even if it slows things down. Its a fine line between system availability and system recoverability. I’ll probably still tinker for a while this weekend and try to further optimize things.

Anything worth doing is worth doing well.

Chickie: Sometimes, I think I obsess over things too much. Whenever there is even the briefest outage, I feel like I should say something about it even thou no one else probably even noticed.
