Heavy Breathing
We haven’t done an audio post in quite some time so we decided to do one this morning. One of the great things about making a tape recording as opposed too taking pictures is that you can just “set it and forget it”. All I have to do is start the tape recorder while California Girl is getting her diaphragm. The tricky part is downloading it to the computer and editing it with the kids around since you have to play it. (We’ve only got a couple of old analog tape recorders.)
We’re only posting it in Windows Media format (WMA) but also have it as a MP3 if any one needs it. Just leave us a comment. The recording is titled “Heavy Breathing”. If you list all the way to the end, you’ll figure out why. Now you know what we did with our morning. Have a listen and let us know what you think.
UPDATE: I got rid of the embedded media player and used a regular link. That way, the audio will not be preloaded which will help visitors with slow internet connections. If you can’t play WMAs, there is a link to the sound clip in MP3 format in the comments. (It really shouldn’t be this hard.)

I couldn’t get it to work. I still live in the stone age (dial-up). Your whole page took forever to load, and then I just got computer giberish…

Kelly: The audio is fairly “descriptive” so you do need to have some privacy.
Steve: Thanks. We’re still figuring things out so we really appreciate the encouragement.
Rob: Actually not that close to the action. Even though the tape recorder is old, the microphone still picks up most sounds. You can hear the sheets rusting on some other segments of the recording which are not posted.
DisappearingJohn: You are probably using FireFox which tries to play the WMA with QuickTime by default. Plus since I am using the embed tag, it downloads the entire audio clip whenever you load the page. Its only 491KB but that is a lot on dial up. The MP3 is 939KB so I have just provided a link.
Try this instead: Heavy Breathing. I hope this works better for you.
The Mrs: Thank you. Although we’re just getting the hang of it, California Girl and I have found that audio posts can be fun.

Steve: Thanks. It’s fixed now. I wish I could type more accurately. There was a typo in the file name.
Rosie: Thanks. It’s always interesting to list to a tape of yourself or watch yourself on film. We were so engrossed in the moment that that we didn’t really hear things until we listened to the tape.

Awww..I can’t listen right now..so I’ll have to visit tomorrow when I can turn up the volumn and listen in!
