Ask MCB/CG Day - 4

Monday, October 17th, 2005 | General | By: Midwestern City Boy

Today is ask MCB/CG day. I usually do this on once a month on Thursday or Friday in the third week of the month but decided to do it earlier in the week this month because we usually get busier towards the end of the week. This is the fifth time that we have done this. Every other time, the questions have been very inquiring. Feel free to ask us anything. We’ll respond in the comments or, if the answer is long, in a separate post. I can’t check our blog from work but we will answer anything that is asked before our next post. So please leave us a comment.

Ok….I’m new to you guys so…..how long have you been married? How do you keep your relationship fresh? How do you keep finding each other so attractive that others aren’t involved?
Now….you can refer me to previous posts. I will eventually go back and read your archives. I just have a little one that prevents me from staying in front of the computer for a long period of time. :-)

Pretty Peanut: It’s a pain to go through the archives. That’s actually why I do this once a month. And this blog is definitely not the most linear since it touches on so many things.

To answer your question, California Girl and I have know each other for 22 years and been married for 17. We met in college and have been together ever since. Our life has not been without its ups and downs but neither of us has lost sight on what’s important.

Our relationship is fresh because California Girl is up for anything. Some ideas she politely refuses but more often than not, she’s willing to try. And she doesn’t make me feel bad when she rejects ides that I come up with. She just says no and we move on.

We’re both somewhat adventurous and I have a good imagination for such things so we do find ourselves doing things that we wouldn’t have expected years ago. For instance, if you had asked us two yeas ago if we would have naked pictures of ourselves on the internet we would have both said no way yet there are some (many) her on this blog. We also do things in the 3D world that we wouldn’t have expected to do when we first met. It took some time to reach this point but eventually we both realized that doing the things that were on our mind probably would not have any negative repercussions. (This blog kills any chance I have of running for president but that wasn’t an ambition of mine anyway). So we expanded our horizons and that’s how we got to where we are today. Some things we do aren’t for everyone but they work for us.

I guess you could say that California Girl and I are both pretty freaky. Not like some on the net but we concluded long ago that it’s OK to be freaky with your spouse. Our days together are many things but same old, same old, they are not. We’ve got long-standing traditions like Saturday morning sex and new ones like our Half-Nekkid Thursday photo shoots which always lead to sex. There are many people who were “wild” in their youth, and then they settled down. We’re mom and dad when the kids are around (and awake) but if they’re out of the house … A quick glance through the archives and you’ll get the idea. Anyway, the point is that we are not concerned about what others think; we only look inward.

I think that this answers your question but please feel free to e-mail (my e-mail address is in the side bar) or comment if I missed the mark.

Thanks so much for the answer. I think it’s great that you guys are so committed to each other. We certainly need some ideas to help us out. Thanks for sharing. I look forward to many more posts!!

Do you guys ever worry about people you know (work, kids) seeing this site?

Pretty Peanut: The “Keeping Things Fresh” post I just made should answer your question at least partially.

Akantha: Not really. California Girl works at home so her virtual co-workers don’t know what she looks like. And most of my co-workers aren’t the blogging type. I do periodically check to see if anyone has ever accessed the site from work but no one has so far.

I never blog from work and say nothing bad about my co-workers. This blog is about us and our lives and not complaints about work.

So far as the kids go, they confine their activity to teen blogging sites. Anyway they wouldn’t be interested in anything except the kids/family category.

Now if my mom cam across the site, I would never hear he end of it. Fortunately, neither her or my dad are big on the internet.

Nothing we post is a secret. It would just make it uncomfortable to interact with some people that we know. There is a risk but we don’t want to give up something that we both enjoy because of what might happen.

We do take a few precautions. We use pseudonyms instead of our real names. We blur our faces in the pictures we post. And we don’t mention specific places. That being said, if you know us you’ll recognize us instantly. We couldn’t have the type of blog that we wanted and still be totally anonymous. So, we opted to for less anonymity and post whatever we want to post.
