Why The Diaphragm
Several people have inquired why we use a diaphragm as our birth control method of choice. Considering that we have two teenage children and are not planning anymore, the best option would be for me to have a vasectomy or for California Girl to get her tubes tied. But, as California Girl puts it, it’s “too depressing”. We like the concept that we could still have more children even though the odds of having one are extremely remote. We just haven’t been able to come to grips with the finality of surgery. So that leaves us with the more traditional methods. In the early days, we used condoms, followed very rapidly by the pill. Condoms are almost as much of a nuisance as the diaphragm and expensive to boot. Plus they really should be removed and discarded as soon as they are “used” which cuts down on the cuddle time. California Girl had some side effects to the pill so we won’t be using the pill or any of its hormone-based derivatives. The first IUD was great (except for poking me) but we had problems with the second one. So we’re stuck with the diaphragm. It works well. Over 3000 uses so far (not the same one) without any problems. And it can be inserted well in advance of the event if we know beforehand. It’s just not conducive to morning sex. Once inserted, it’s good for hours although an additional squirt of Gynol II is recommended in certain situations. I don’t like the taste of Gynol II (the contraceptive jelly that we use with it) but California Girl is pretty good at inserting it without getting too much on herself.
Could we plan things out better? Most certainly. Some days (like this morning) we do. But there have been times when it could have been inserted beforehand and wasn’t. This is more of a mood thing. Sometimes putting it in sets the mood. Other times it makes things seem a bit too clinical. So we struggle with just how much planning is appropriate. And the blow jobs I get to get back into the mood aren’t bad either.

I like the concept — “Back in the mood Blow Jobs.” Makes it sound even hotter then just the usual run of the mill one.
