The Pool Is Open
Finally. After a month in which it always seem too cold or too rainy. We had the perfect weather for getting in the pool. Upper 80’s and sunny. And our daughter is finished with school so I don’t have to wake up as early tomorrow. We’re trying some new floats out this year. They don’t float as high in the water which is a good thing when it’s almost 90-degrees.

With all of the shirtless running I have been doing. I am way ahead of California Girl in the tan department.

I had a bit too much chorine in the pool to start so we still had to wash off thoroughly when we were finished.

We put in the pool the year after we moved in. We made sure to get a large, flat lot just for that purpose. The pool was expensive but I look at it the same way I would a boat or motorcycle. It’s got an enormous heater. If I don’t mind the HUGE gas bill, I can warm the water 2-3 degrees an hour! So, if the air temperature is good, I can get in the pool anytime it’s open. Theoretically it extends the season but we’re so busy in the fall with the kids we don’t have much time except on weekends.
Most of my tan is from running. I’m just glad my swim trunks are longer than my running shorts. I’d look really funny otherwise.

Wow, I’m jealous too. The pool looks fabulous.
Wish we had that weather, too - not been so good here lately.

I think you had a bit of a head start….

Ed: In Ohio at least, a pool is a pool is an expensive toy due to the limited season. But we really have fun with it during the summer. BTW, we de-winterized it in the middle of April at which time it promptly snowed (just a trace). It took a month of rain and cold before we got the temperatures where we could really enjoy it.
TwidlyBits: I didn’t have quite as much of a head start as you might think. If I get a chance this weekend, I’ll do a tan line photograph. It a subtle transition because I wear three lengths of shorts (swim trunks, and two lengths of athletic/running shorts).
