The Things People Notice
We got some interesting observations on our Saturday Morning Sex post. I replied to the comments but thought that I would post a few more details.
Chickie noticed that we are wearing our wristwatches while we are having sex. We always wear our watches since they are a matched set. We have some other his and hers stuff as well, but don’t do the matching clothes except at Halloween when we have coordinated costumes. (Last year we went as a Pimp and his Ho.) The other notable his and hers items are:
- Seiko Perpetual Calendar wristwatches.
- Nokia 3360 cell phones.
- Lands’ End bath robes (see our More Things About Us Page).
- Ohio State University football jerseys (#13).
- Timex Ironman sports watches
- New Balance 664 crosstraining shoes.
I do not wear underwear that matches my top like Californai Girl does.

SK said that we could make some good porn. That’s probably because the bedroom looked like a porno set with the sheets pulled back off of the bed. I used to think that is was “unromantic” to make specific preparations for sex so I would end up leaving the sheets on the bed and they would always get in the way. Then one day I realized that California Girl made very deliberate arrangements. Years ago when I was working too hard, she used to let me sleep in on Saturday mornings while she took the kids to her activities. She would get up, shower get dressed, etc. and take the kids wherever they need to go. Then she would come home get undressed, get back into bed and “wake me up”. Keeping that in mind, it did not seem to be a big deal to prepare the bed. I don’t remember how long we have been pulling the sheets out of the way. The habit predates our digital camera.
BD (sk husband) noticed the duration of our “encounter”. More often than not, Saturday morning or sometimes Sunday morning has been the time of our best sessions. There is plenty of light so that we can see what we are doing and both of us are usually reasonably well rested. Plus we usually wake up well before we need to get the children anywhere, or wait until their (morning) activities are done.
Kelly was pleasantly surprised that we posted photographs. We have enjoyed taking photographs of ourselves for a long time. Posting them seemed very much in the spirit of our blog. This blog is about us, and like any most good marriages, a healthy sex life is a major component in our lives. We like to post photographs related to our posts. We don’t see any harm so long as no one can see our faces. The people I work with are so square I’m sure they don’t read blogs like this. California Girl works at home so her coworkers don’t even know what she looks like.

I can identify with a lot of that – except for taking photos. We like to pull the sheets out of the way, too. Even though we don’t take photos they do get in the way.
And I love sex in the morning. We have a skylight right above our bed – it is good to be able to see what you’re doing.
Our sex sessions often go on for an hour or more. That’s one good thing I find about being 45 – I can keep going a lot longer than I used to.
That was very interesting seeing the photos – great idea.
See..I’d still worry. I work in a company that is pretty traditional but you’d be surprised what people do with their private time!
I always worry if I place Pics on…or anything identifying..well then people I work with will know what I think, when i’m having sex and with who…you know..the things I wouldn’t want them to know!
Kelly: I’m happy as long as our real names aren’t associated with our blog. I’ve always worked in very traditional companies but I finally decided to do some things that I felt like doing. Even though I am careful to omit identifying information, an astute reader who also knew me professionally would be able to figure it out. So there is no more harm in posting photos than there would be in regular posts. Besides, what would they get from my blog? That I love my wife and we have sex? They should be able to figure that out any way. California Girl and I certainly have broader horizons than most/all of the people that I work with, but I don’t want to let work control my life in any way outside of the office.
I spent too many years letting work run my life. Now I am more focused on living my live the way I want to. It took me a long time to reach this point. When I was younger, I had exactly the same viewpoint as you do now. It was only after I realized that I couldn’t put off doing the things that I wanted to do forever, or I would be too old to enjoy them that my philosophy began to change. California Girl was always more of a free spirit and less concerned with what other people thought. So, posting photos was not as big of a leap for us as it would be some couples.
I believe it’s important to give something back to the blogging community. In fact, in these days of SPAM, I still continue to post to new groups with a real e-mail address. Just this week, I answered an e-mail from someone who was having the same issue as I had two years ago. I was able to help solve his problem. I had been totally anonymous, he would not have been able to contact me and I would have not been able to help him. That’s the spirit if the ‘net, or at least it was in the early years.
Bottom line: I know that I am taking a risk. I am just hoping that the reward is worth it.
Ed: you should try taking photographs. Even if you don’t post them, they are great to look back over. The flash is a bit annoying but otherwise, it’s just you and her doing what you normally do. Assuming you have a good place to put the camera.
Yes, I’d like to take some photos, maybe video too – just for our own (my!) use.
Just have to persuade Sue…
