Just got back with the boy from his band concert. They got a top rating. The band director was happy which is rare for him. MCB: Pay off my mortgage. Buy a Cadillac STS, a Pontiac Solstice (convertible), and a Hummer H2. Buy a Harley-Davidson Sportster. Buy a boat. Buy a new house for my parents. Get a bunch of new furniture for our house. Put up a mature hedge around the edge of our back yard. Buy a laptop computer. Buy a desktop computer. Go on an expensive vacation. Buy a whole new wardrobe in New York, Paris, London and Milan. Buy tickets to the SuperBowl

CG: Buy a million-dollar estate with lots of household luxuries, plenty of acreage, and beautiful landscaping.

3. You are given the option to be the opposite sex for 24 hours. How would you spend your day?

MCB: Have a twosome, then a threesome, then a foursome. Dance on the stage in the clubs that only let women get up there. Try to pee standing up. Have a lesbian liaison.

CG: Definitely having sex, but I am not sure I’d be adventurous enough for the foursome!

5. If you could travel in time, backward or forward, where and what time period would you go to? What would you hope to accomplish or find out?

MCB: Go back to the days of my youth when I could come and still stay hard. I did not think much of it at the time but that is a gift that I wish I could repeat with regularity today. I can still do it on occasion but not like when I was younger.

CG: The future. I think the world is still very primitive compared to what it will be like in a few hundred years. I would want to see what the future is like.

California Girl and I have not had sex since Sunday. That’s not unusual; there have always been times when our schedules made weekday sex difficult. What was I doing? Sunday night, I was working on the unattended backup of our main computer. It hasn’t been completing since a power failure a couple of weeks ago. (The job started fine and was running well but died after I went to bed so the problem still is not resolved.) I got about 2 hours of sleep. Monday night, I was working on my WordPress plugin to count visitors to my blog. I finished the PHP fairly quickly but had a problem getting it to work with my current theme. I got about 2 hours of sleep. Tuesday night, I updated the usage statistics of some of our other websites. We recently discovered that counts were all wrong due to me changing the frequency of log rotations back in December. I ended up having to reprocess everything for the past two years. I got about 2 hours of sleep. Generally I’m good so long as I get at least a couple hours of sleep but that was not the case this time. On Wednesday, I went to bed and crashed.

So, I traded some late night tinkering on the computer for sex with California Girl. I didn’t know at the time that would be the outcome so I’m pretty bummed. I feel like an old man.

I still haven’t quite figured out why I don’t seem to be as interested in blogging as Midwestern City Boy, although my job involves writing and I also enjoy writing fiction as a hobby. It’s not just because a blog is in the first person perspective; many of my stories have been in the first person, and I don’t have any problem with describing a fictional character’s perspective.

Writing about myself just seems weird, for reasons unknown.

I used to keep a ridiculously melodramatic diary when I was a teenager, but I got out of that habit long ago, mainly because the entries looked much too silly when I went back and read them later. I guess I’ve become more self-conscious with age.

Midwestern City Boy does not have this problem, obviously.

It’s Sunday, April 24, 2005 and snowed today! Although that may not seem unusual if you live in a more northern climate, it’s very unusual for here. I am really looking forward to making the “now” shots. If neither of the kids gets sick and wants to stay home, I think we will have a very interesting weekend.
