Independence Day Sex

As I mentioned yesterday we made a video for this year’s edition of Independence Day Sex. We didn’t realize it at the time but we also recorded and posted a video during our Fourth of July vacation in 2008. Although the quality isn’t as high, today’s video is much longer. Now is a good time to post a movie since we expect fewer visitors and shouldn’t have to worry as much about bandwidth. We’ve got plenty of storage so we don’t need to remove older photographs and videos; but our blog gets sluggish and page load times go way up whenever we post a new video.

We’re still having the problem with the audio that we had with our last movie. I’m still using the same tools so I’m not sure what has changed. I ended up splitting and converting the video using FFmpeg before doing anything else. There is still some noise; but I got tired of trying to completely eliminate it. I could have removed the audio entirely; but California Girl and I don’t like movies without any sound. Besides, we think the audio us pretty good. You can decide for yourself. Just be prepared to turn up or turn down your speakers as you choose.

The video is about 10 minutes long. I considered making a shorter, higher resolution version; but didn’t; partly because of editing difficulties; but mostly because we like movies that are as close to the original version as possible. The only difference between the web version and the original version (besides the format/resolution change) is the removal of a few seconds in a couple of places while we change positions. Anyway, here is the video. We hope that you enjoy it. (Click the image to play the movie.)

As usual, we’re only posting the video in Windows Media format (WMV) to save bandwidth. Leave us a comment if you can’t play it.

HNT – 200

This year we decided to make a movie for our traditional Independence Day Sex feature. We’ve typically created a still photo series over our Fourth of July vacation and wanted to do something a bit different. The movie we made Tuesday night was too dark so we made another one this morning. Although it was partly cloudy outside the lighting still was much better. And that’s without any post-processing. We expect fewer visitors on Friday because of the long weekend so we’ll probably post it tomorrow (assuming I’ve had the opportunity to transcode it). As a preview, here is a picture of California Girl hanging out on the bed waiting for me to finish adjusting the camera.

We were originally going to post a movie we made; but it came out much to dark. So here are a couple of pictures of us “warming up”. We’ll keep the camera nearby on Wednesday and try and take something different for Thursday.

No Surprises This Year

We ended up giving The Boy his birthday presents early this year. We had ordered a 22-inch LCD monitor and a set of powered speakers for his laptop. Unfortunately, the shipment was delivered while California Girl and I were in the pool and the monitor was not packed inside another box. There wasn’t any point in waiting until his actual birthday since his laptop is the only computer that “needs” a monitor. We could have delayed giving him the speakers since they were still a surprise; but it seemed pointless to wait and make him rearrange the desk twice.

He really likes his new computer accessories. His laptop is fast and powerful; but only has a 15-inch display. Good for portability; but not the best for desktop use. And the speakers make music should much better. He’s got an excellent system for an 18 soon to be 19-year old college student.

So far, it’s been a good summer for The Boy. He got outstanding grades his freshman year and earned a summer of rest and relaxation. He doesn’t have anything to do and sleeps in as late as he wants. The fall term will start in a couple of months. But, until then, he can enjoy the rewards of his hard work.

A Couple Of Things

We’re currently running a beta version of WordPress so please let us know if you see anything unusual. I reported several bugs which are supposed to be fixed in the upcoming release so I thought it would be a good idea to test it.

Also, I was troubleshooting an ill behaved plugin earlier today so you may have experienced some intermittent formatting issues for a couple of hours earlier this evening; especially on the home page. (The plugin was fine. It was a caching problem.)

I used the “fresh baked cookies” coupon The Girl gave me for Father Day for some snickerdoodles.  I’ll have to run extra tomorrow; but they were excellent.

We’re on vacation so hopefully we’ll be posting and commenting earlier than we usually do; but it will probably be the other way around.
