HNT – 261

The scene depicted in the following photos would never happen in real life or at least not to us; but, considering the way that some people text, we might see sexting like this one day in the future.  We thought that it was a fun photo but it’s not something that we would ordinarily do.

For some fun while texting with your smartphone, talk to your significant other. To find out what Half Nekkid Thursday is all about, visit Osbasso.

Random Wednesday #15

Miscellaneous musings from the mind of Midwestern City Boy (and sometimes California Girl).

  • I’m not sure if it was a good idea but I went to TWO boxing classes back to back in the evening and ran in the burning sun at lunch on Tuesday.  I’m not sore but I’m not moving quite as quickly as I usually do.
  • Now that both kids are away at school, both California Girl and I have lost a little weight.  We’re not quite sure why.
  • I’ve become an expert at texting on my new phone.  Because they have class, lab, recitation, etc. and can’t always pick up a call, it’s the best way to reach the kids.
  • I’ve been watching “The Ultimate Catch” of and on for the past few weeks.  I’ve never watched reality dating shows in the past; but this one as captivated my interest for some reason; perhaps because I’m a fan of 85.  He’s quite a character both on and off the field.

Two For Tuesday – 253

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010 | Photos, TFT | By: Midwestern City Boy

After not having our weekly photo session until Wednesday because I was at boxing class with the kids, we are back to our customary Tuesday night photo session.  I still went to evening boxing lass; but, we had our photo session any way, since we weren’t concerned about it being a late night since it was just the two if us.  Since it was just the two of us, we decided to take some candid photos of life after kids.  Unfortunately, the battery in the camera died after only one shot and the spare battery no longer holds a charge.  We intend to take more photos in the days and weeks to come (after I the charge the good battery).  Here is our first edition of what will be an ongoing life after kids series.

No More Spam

Monday, August 30th, 2010 | General | By: Midwestern City Boy

We were drowning in spam emails so I used some of my “extra” free time this weekend to configure a spam filter for our mail server.  We’ve had a few spam messages get through; but nothing like what we were getting.  I had forgotten how pleasant it was to start my email client and only see messages that I’m interested in reading.  (And unlike beforehand, it’s now practicable to synch emails to my phone.)  It’s a shame that spam filters are required.  The only “good” thing is that since everyone is using them, we don’t really have to worry about false positives.

On a completely different subject, does anyone have any suggestions for our next photo shoot?  We’d like to do something a bit different to commemorate being empty nesters.

Empty Nesters

Sunday, August 29th, 2010 | Kids/Family | By: Midwestern City Boy

We took The Boy back to school so California Girl and I are officially “empty nesters”.  I never realized how much I talked to and interacted with the kids until now. The house is really, really quiet.  The Girl called earlier today just to check in.  We text and FB chat a lot but it was nice to hear her voice.  She had a lot of homework; but was trying to stay on top of it which I think is good.  She’s certainly matured a lot over the past year.  I know what she can take care of herself; but I still worry about her.  She used to call me every single day when she got out of school and let me know what she was doing, where she was going, and who she was with.  It was one of the rules unless she was going straight home which she seldom never did.  Now she’s making her own rules.  I just hope that the “wisdom” I tried to teach her is enough.
