Married In Ohio

Wednesday was one of those days. I woke up without any energy and stayed that way the entire day. I’m usually “OK” when I’m tired; but, not this time. My headgear for boxing fell out of my gear bag which, in addition to the nuisance of replacing it, is like losing $70. I looked everywhere only to discover it was right next to where I keep my bag. I seldom misplace something in plain sight and then overlook it while looking all around; but it was that type of a day. So, I was glad to get back in bed and forget about life for a while. California Girl definitely perked me up. And, as always, here are the results of my energy infusion.

Miscellaneous musings from the mind of Midwestern City Boy (and sometimes California Girl).

• I’ve been sparring pretty regularly since the first of the holidays. So far, there have been a few really good punches each session. Sometimes I’m the one receiving them, sometimes I’m the one delivering them. The Last time I was in the ring, I got in a few good shots; and didn’t get hit hard. I hope it’s a sign that I’m getting better.
• Intellectually, I know it’s cheaper and more convenient to work on repair appliances myself rather than call a repairman; but, they always seem to break down at inopportune times.
• California Girl and I are thinking about having an encore photo session today for no particular reason. Not that we ever need a reason.
• I got a new boss today at work. My fourth in less than a year. I would really, really love (or really, really hate) having the same manager for a year or longer. So, in a way, the changer is kinda good. It means I’m never happy for an extended period of time; but I’m never unhappy for an extend period of time either.

After last week’s self-censored post, California Girl and I assumed that we would have a more typical Tuesday photo session this week. Unfortunately, our clothes dryer did not cooperate. We spent most all of the evening disassembling and reassembling it. It appears to be working normally again; but it was a long evening. It definitely was NOT how we planned so spend the evening. So, here is a picture of the offending device, decorated, of course, by California Girl.

P.S. As you can see from the second photo, we did get to our “normal” Tuesday activities; but it was much later that we planned.

To juxtapose the photograph that we posted yesterday in support of the protest against SOPA/PIPA and Internet Censorship, today we are posting some pictures which have definitely not been censored. In fact, cropping and resizing for the web was the only editing performed. And, the photos were specifically chosen because they left nothing to the imagination. We hope you enjoy or second edition of Empty Nest Thursday.

Since today is Internet Blackout Day we decided to censor the photographs in our (belated) Two For Tuesday post to protest SOPA/PIPA and Internet Censorship. Still NSFW; but, definitely not as racy what we typically post. Hopefully, this is not what our Internet world will become.

Two quick notes.

1. We are participating in Internet Blackout Day on Wednesday so Married In Ohio will be “dark” from 8:00AM to 8:00PM.  During that time, this entire site as well as many others across the internet will be censored/blocked to protest SOPA/PIPA.
2. It’s been a busy day/week here in Married In Ohio land so we will be holding our photo session on Wednesday rather than Tuesday.  As a result, our Two For Tuesday and post will be published a day later than normal.  We will not be doing Random Wednesday this week.

P.S. We are empty nesters once again. Good for taking pictures; but bad for other things.

Today is the first post of our new series, Empty Nest Thursday. We’re not empty nesters all the time since the kids are home at breaks and over the summer but we think the term is descriptive of the current phase of our lives. We mostly have the house to ourselves and can do whatever we want whenever we want to. We’re making up the guidelines of this series as we go along. Right now, the only one is that it’s a Thursday post NSFW of photos. Anyway, we hope that you enjoy our new series.

Miscellaneous musings from the mind of Midwestern City Boy (and sometimes California Girl).

• We’ve settled on a title and a sorta theme for our new Thursday photo series. It will be making its debut tomorrow; although probably not until sometime later in the evening.
• We are somewhat out of practice with using a handheld remote control during our photo sessions. We used one very frequently for many years; but more recently we’ve been taking interval shots; so we don’t quite have the timing down yet; especially since it’s not our main area of focus.
• We’ve posted regularly since the end of our vacation; but we haven’t visited everyone’s blog as frequently as we would like. Hopefully, we will get back into the groove soon.
• In addition to going to boxing class on a regular basis, I still spar. I NEVER foresaw myself participating in a “combat sport”; but, I discovered that I really enjoy it. It’s definitely a challenge; especially since everyone else is younger and/or heavier than I am. I’m starting to wonder what I might be into a few years from now.

We post a lot of NSFW photographs since we enjoy our photo sessions so much. Of course, we’ve got a lot of other things happening in our lives besides this blog. Like everyone else, our real world lives are hectic and complicated. So rather than posting the pictures taken after we’ve gotten everything ready, we’re posting a “behind the scenes” look at our preparations.

In olden times (i.e. before I used to shave my head) I used to cut my hair with electric clippers once a week on Tuesday night. Now, I shave much more frequently; but, I still always do it on Tuesday. So, one of the tasks before our photo session is to shave my head. Here I am using a HeadBlade, my razor of choice.

Depending on how hard of a workout I get in at lunchtime, I may or may not do another one on Tuesday evening; but, I always take shower after I cut my hair.

Last week seemed like a long week but it really wasn’t.  Memorial Day (our next long weekend/short week) is 138 days away. Realizing that is not how you want your Monday morning to start.

After a brief vacation with temperatures in the mid-50s late last week the Ohio winter has returned. We didn’t expect for it to last; but it makes normal weather seem a lot colder. At last there is no snow in the forecast.

We haven’t forgotten about the “year in review” post that we usually publish the first week in January, we’ve just haven’t had time to pull everything together. It’s definitely harder to keep get back mojo this time of year.

Both gyms I regularly use were full of people implementing their New Year’s resolution to lose weight. It’s only been a week and they’re already not as crowded. It’s difficult to see results in just a week, especially if your “workout” consists solely of walking in the treadmill at 2.5mph for 25 minutes.

I haven’t yet made my resolutions for 2012. Usually by this time, I’ve reflected on the past year and selected some achievable goals; but it’s another thing that’s turned into a round tuit.
